June Shenanigans

Woweeee can you actually believe its June already?!

I know people say that time flies by as you get older, but seriously? What the hell happened? I'm pretty sure it was still March last time I checked. Doh. On the up side, time whizzing its way by means is nearly summer, nearly picnics and birthdays parties (mine!) and family trips and flip-flops.

June also brings with it the mailing day of my Brit Quilt Swap. I've actually finished already. I'm just having a bit of a fight with myself over washing it. I should have washed it before I stitched on the label, and now I'm not sure it will hold up to washing at all. So do I remove the label (and hours of blanket stitch in the process), or wash it anyway and hope for the best?

I'm quite proud of it actually, despite its flaws. I really did try to make everything perfect. As perfect as I can anyway. Anyone who knows me will know, I'm not into perfection. Its not my thing. I'm a seat-of-my-pants kinda gal. I'm more into having the product than being textbook about the process, which usually means I cut corners (sometimes quiet literally). There are 2 main problem areas with this doll quilt (in my mind), but I'm not gonna go into unnecessary detail about either of them. Just know that I'm not blowing my trumpet too loudly over it, thats all. I do love all that circular quilting though, however much of a pain it was to actually do :-)

I've had the day off work today, and what a gorgeous gorgeous sunny day it has been! I broke out a summer dress and my favourite pair of birkenstocks for the first time this year! I spent the morning sorting out my miniature garden/yard thingy with hanging baskets and solar powered butterfly fairy lights (cute!), followed by a pedicure and foot massage with my mama, and then we went out for a delicious lunch at one of our favourite cafe's!

Its been a very very nice day off, and now my toes are sporting an unusually girly shade of pink, and an even more unusual peppermint smell. Beaker is not sure about either...
