Both my goody parcels are finished! Although after writing that title I might actually go and get some gumdrop's to send along too lol ;-)
I've had such a blast making these for my 2 partners in the goody swap, although I am constantly intimidated by some of the things that they come up with... I'm having a slight wobble over the pincushions (never made one before, probably won't again!), but I'm hoping the paper-piecing on the mug-rugs can carry them through...
Partner 1 likes pink and red and aqua:

Improv style rectangular pincushion, loosely based on this tutorial. With 2 large felt patches for needles, and the rest for pinnies :-)
Partner 2 likes green, yellow, orange and blue:
A modified disappearing 9 patch, with teeny felt strips for needles. I'm not so proud of this pinnie... the little (1/2 inch finished) felt strips didn't work out exactly as planned, and were a nightmare to sew. So I made this to compensate:
A cute little "out of my head" designed needlebook, which I actually love. And if co-ordination is key... (is it? I'm not sure...) then check out the kaboodle together:
Actually, looking at that picture I feel a little sad for partner 1. I'll be making her a needlebook tonight I think.
Anyway, I hope they don't guess and are nicely surprised :-)
I have literally ZERO idea who's got me. There's so many gorgeous things popping up in the flickr pool, but I can't even remember what colours I said!! I know I wanted to say rainbow. Because that's just me through and through. But did I? Who knows! So excited to see what turns up on my doorstep though!!!

Hi Laura
ReplyDeleteI think they all look really cute!
Funny how when you make something for someone you feel like your skills are getting tested.
xx
These are gorgeous LJ. Your pincushions are fab! Love the felt idea for needles - genius! Jxo
ReplyDeleteI should have put rainbow, I wasn't even thinking it was an option - doh! Anyway, love how your goodies and mug rugs came out :o)
ReplyDeleteLovely work! They'll be very happy,I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteThey're lovely - your partners are going to be thrilled!
ReplyDeleteno need to wobble at all about the pin cushions, they are lovely :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the mug rugs :-)
I'd be happy to be partner #1 or partner #2...but sadly I don't think either is for me. (insert sad face here). Lovely, lovely work!
ReplyDeleteEverything is gorgeous Laura!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember what I put when I signed up either :)
Lovely makes honey, and second pinnie looks fab, cant see a thing wrong! Lucky partners :-)
ReplyDeleteThey all look great! Well, I was hoping about that teapot, but doesn't sound like it's for me...You've got a lucky partner for sure!
ReplyDeletelovely! I can never remember what I say in swaps either. At least in this one sign up was via email so I could go and check! I don't even remember saying what I did lol. Of course this means I can rule out being one of your partners. But like you I have no idea who is making for me!!!
ReplyDeleteYour partners are going to be thrilled. I have no idea who got me but I think I put down that I had a childish delight in bright colours so I probably won't be getting these from you unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI want to be partner 2! Please?
ReplyDeleteI really like the orange & green pincushion, the felt is a great addition. I am also feeling a bit in awe of all the loveliness that is on the flickr group but will stick by my makes this time and might have to put more effort in for the future.
ReplyDeleteNice work. Keep meaning to ask if you have received your P&P package yet?!
ReplyDeleteYou're inspiring me. I have 3 gifts to make for a "Pay-it-Forward" thing I did on my blog. But I don't have a sewing machine. I need one. Now. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteEverything turned out so well! I think your partners will be thrilled. :-) I am intrigued by the paper piecing you did - I had never heard of it before (very much a beginner quilter), but will have to try my hand at it soon!
ReplyDeleteChrissa
