I took an early walk this morning to the local park and snapped these shots.
I was hoping to get fresher-than-fresh tracks, but people had been out the night before building various snow-things. Snow-men, snow-dogs, snow-unmentionables... even an igloo!
After the trip out I settled in for a nice quiet day at home. I finished a commission quilt, and then set about work on my mouthy stitches pouch. I wanted to make a mini swoon block for the pouch body, so of course I had to do a practice run just to see if it was even possible.
At a quarter size of the original, this baby is tiny!
It finishes at a mighty 6 inches square... and while it was very time consuming, it wasn't too difficult, per say...
There was a slight incident where my machine ate half of a HST (like literally munched down on the corner and dragged the whole thing under the throat plate), but other than that, I think I got away fairly scott free :-)
I'm gonna make this one into a mini in preparation for the Modern Mini Challenge I think, and unless my partner has any objections, its full steam ahead for the Swoon pouch!

I do miss living near Victoria Park. I loved that area. Shame the house prices didn't allow us to buy there.

I absolutely adore your mini-swoon! I've been looking enviously at everyone's quilts, but hadn't even thought that I could make a littler one just for me :) Your fabric choices are perfect, and I'm glad it's not just my sewing machine that likes to eat fabric!
ReplyDeleteYour snowy pictures are beautiful, but I think the bench is my favourite - the contrast of the light is just wonderful :)
oh, such a pretty block! the neutral colors created a stunning look, for sure!
ReplyDeletewe had a huge snowstorm go by at the end of last week, but it pretty much passed us by. we got a light dusting, but an hour away it dumped 1-1/2 feet. i feel a little left out!
