Grannies gone wild

Or rather, I've gone wild. With grannies. Giant ones.

They have taken over my life.

I made 2 on Saturday evening.

Then 4 more on Sunday morning.

Then 3 more on Sunday night.

I've completely ran out of the Summersville now, and on friday, I had 3 metres of the stuff. That is the slight drawback with this pattern... very wasteful on the background fabric.

This quilt is going to be big, with each block finishing at 20" square (or near enough)... and I'm hoping to make it 5x5!

  3. Oh, grand-sized Grannies are GORGEOUS! I'm going to have to try this. I've been making the tiny kind, using 1.5" squares....

Your new quilt is just brilliant, Laura!

  6. Your grannies are gorgeous! have you tried a slightly large square cut in half for the setting triangles rather than squares, far less wastage :)

  10. They look great! I too was inspired by the giant grannies. I'm making one at the moment using 3" squares.
I know what you mean about the background fabric! Maybe try making them into HSTs? Or throw them in the scrap bin =D
