I've had very little motivation, of late, to break out the sewing machine and actually sew. This troubles me on a few levels because I have many things that need sewing. Instead, Ive been feeling the pull of embroidery. I've been whiling away a good few hours watching movies and stitching up a storm. And you know what? Its been brilliant :o)
After being emboldened by Aneela's class at the Fat Quarterly Retreat I thought I'd break open my copy of Doodle Stitching and start a project.
And then I was hooked. I couldn't stop stitching!
And then I had a finished bag.... Which is actually the goody bag from the retreat!
How cute is that???? I'm actually a little bit in love with it.
After I deemed Saturday as a "do nothing day", I needed another project. I shouldn't really be showing this till after Wednesday but silly me already uploaded the pics to flickr, so... what the heck right?
Its for my friend Mandy, because she's lovely. And it was her birthday last week.
And really, what more reason do you need for an embroidered Mr Rabbit?
That floofy tail makes my heart sing a little bit.
I think a few more stitchy animal things will be in my future. Maybe one with cats :o)

Oooh I love the little rabbit! He's so sweet!
ReplyDeleteLoving the stitchy loveliness. I joked to Katy that before the week was out there would be customised FQR retreat bags like they do after sewing summit.
ReplyDeleteso sweet Laura, it's nice to do some handiwork now and again, lets you drift away...

ReplyDeletewhat a great idea with the goodie bag. Your embroidery is fantastic, love Mandys hoop. I have a few unfinshed embroidery projects lying around: you are inspiring me to pick them up (but first i will need to put my EPP down)
ReplyDeleteAhh, I knew you'd turnip eventually... Love the bag, and mr bunny is very cute. I know what you mean about the sewing machine though, it took me til Saturday night to even face mine!
ReplyDeleteOh, cuteness. I am so in love.
ReplyDeleteThey're both fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing up all my old x-stitch patterns today and then looking at my goodie bag and then across to my Doodle Stitching book ... it could all be about to go a little stitchy crazy round here I think.
ReplyDeleteI so need a veggie bag like that! I have a stack of plain cotton bags that are crying out for some doddley embroidery!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching. Love what you did with the bag. Di x
ReplyDeleteWow what great embroidery work! Love all the little veggies =D

ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh, you are going to have to teach me to embroider at SS. So, so cute
ReplyDeleteFantastic!! I love it whenever someone realises that embroidery is easy!!!! Why do people think its hard???
ReplyDeleteAnd there is nothing better than a movie with a little floss action on the side ;)
Ooh, now I was wondering what to do with my lovely blank goody bag, just waiting for some sort of embellishment... time to go embroidery pattern hunting, I feel....
