Lately

Lately I've been working on my to-do list, a lot of which is either totally boring, or totally secret. (I know right, I hate it when people say that too, sorry). Either way, not a lot of crafting has been going on round here. There has been a bit... a smidge, a soupçon, if you will.

I tidied, and added to, my stash. (Thats just one of 3 stacks I've had through the mail this month.... I've been a bad girl recently). I started a simple patchwork quilt. I realized I'd never actually made a simple patchwork quilt before, so decided to cut into some lovelies and start one.

I also took receipt of the most fantastic book. Free Motion Quilting by Angela Walters. I've read the first few chapters and I can really see them being incredibly helpful. The photo's are lovely and the instructions are really clear and well thought out. I've been wanting to progress with my quilting for a while now, and I think this book might give me the confidence that I need to try something a little out of the ordinary. I got mine at the book depository, which was cheaper than, and available before, Amazon. (I was a little surprised at this, because I'm an amazon junkie).

Oh, and the cats have been pretty cute recently too. Lunacat loves the iPad. She's on the leaderboard for the App for Cats. Well, not really. But she's getting there.

  1. App for cats?!! You are joking! Can't wait to see what you are secretly working on. And nice looking stash going on there. Now I know why you told me it was looking pretty good these days. Jealous!!

  2. I've been buying a little too much fabric lately as well. It's a terrible thing ;-)

  3. One of my favourite ever quilts is a really simple patchwork one I made for one of the boys a year or two ago. It's so nice to actually SEE every single print, and the speedy construction is rather satisfying too.

  4. Archie's jealous of the ipad - he thinks it'll spit out biscuits instead of racking up the points! I love your new fabrics...let me know when you're next going out and I'll come and 'keep it company'!

  10. I'm sure you can train the cat to write blog posts for you while you sew... ;o)

  11. I am going to make a simple patchwork quilt from the liberty fabrics I bought in London. What size squares are you using - I sometimes get stuck on the simplest things.

  12. Hehe, a cat playing on the ipad cracks me up every time I see it :)

Book depository rocks. I'm a total convert. Really handy to send gifts overseas too given the worldwide free shipping.

Good to see someone else has been very bad lately. When all my parcels finish arriving, I might have to do a bit of online confession too :). Do we get to see the rest of your parcels?
