Walking the Madrona Road

Anyone who follows me on IG or twitter will know I'm more than a little obsessed with Violet Craft's new line, Madrona Road.

Walking the Madrona Road

After seeing it (not in person) at Spring Market I swooned a little. Particularly over Elizabeth's neighborhood quilt.

The colours are perfect, the scale of the prints are really well considered, it has the cutest text print which tells a magical story, and then there's the donkey. Yes, a donkey. Who doesn't need a donkey on their quilt?!

It would seem the stars aligned for me when my friend Katy offered to split her stack with me, and sent me a bundle of Fat Eighths in the Citrus colour way.

I cut all the pieces on Saturday morning, whilst having breakfast with my mom, then went home and pieced my socks off all afternoon. The block is the "Single Wedding Ring" which I found in my handy dandy quilt block app. I've made this one before for a bee month, and always thought I'd like to use it in a quilt one day.

The background is actually a Makower solid (this one), but its very close to Kona Chocolate. I toyed with the idea of using Kona Espresso, but I'm glad I went with a warmer lighter shade in the end. It really brings out the pinks.

I even started quilting a little bit on Sunday morning... just playing really.

Walking the Madrona Road

I've been having no end of trouble with my sewing machine the last couple of weeks, and yesterday it really started behaving badly. So the tension and thread colours on the back are a little, shall we say, interesting. But I think I'm gonna hang this one on the wall in my bedroom, so it probably doesn't really matter too much.

Brenda has the whole collection in stock right now and you can use the coupon code KATY15 for 15% off orders over $35 (excluding shipping). I think I might need to get some yardage... I can see the Haystack, Sprout and Memoir prints selling out uber quickly.

  24. Love it - would never have occurred to me to use brown with those colours but it really does make them pop. Can you tell me what the fabric in the outer ring of the block second from the top on the left is? I don't think its part of the Madrona Road collection (?) but it is fabulous.
