I'm home from sewing summit now, but I feel like I left my heart there among the sewing peeps! I think when I die, my own personal heaven will be something like sewing summit.
Although I've crashed back to reality today (7am wake up for work? What?! With the 7 hours time difference that was like waking up at midnight. Jet lag = poop), I'd much rather just exist in a sewing bubble for a little while longer.... so let's reminisce for a while about what went down shall we?
Just so you know, you might see a little bit of a theme running through my pictures. It's kind of all about the food... Oh, and whilst I lugged my proper camera all the way there, I didn't even take 1 picture. These are all from my iphone. Sorry if you think they're a bit crappy. Also, I really am quite jetlagged. I've just read the whole post through and it doesn't make a lot of sense. Just sayin'.
Firstly, I flew into Denver and met up with Sharon and Jennifer. I was a little bit zonked out from 23 hours traveling with no sleep, but we got like, the best burger ever which pepped me up :o)
On Tuesday, we went back to Denver and visited Mama Said Sew and the Loopy Ewe. Hello awesomeness. I got some Yuwa fabrics, amongst other things, and some Mad Tosh Yarn to make a colour affection shawl. Watch this space for that. I'm too excited to start it!
Wednesday we road tripped to Salt Lake City. It took us about 7 hours but it was super fun! Wyoming, where we started, is flat as a pancake. It was really interesting to see the mountains pop up out of nothingness as soon as we neared the Utah state line. We got to SLC and did a bit of scoping out for the shop hop the following day (read: more fabric purchases).
Wednesday night was a blur of faces and meeting people and squealing and flapping. Or maybe that was just me :-)
I can't even begin to list all the awesome people that I met. That was the best part, hands down, for me. Just getting to hang out with the people I know and love from twitter, IG and blogs. Everyone was just so lovely. Seriously. That picture up there, of a bunch of us in the bar... I heart it. That was a fun night, let me tell you ;-)
The lectures I took over the weekend were all super inspiring, Handmade Wardrobe by Mena, Creative Fabric Selection by Jeni, and Finishing Details by Anna (who snuck a picture of my weekender bag into her slides... thanks Anna! I geeked out a little bit when that popped up....). It was so great to hear people share their enthusiasm for things I am enthusiastic about too.
Other highlights of the weekend include:
All too soon it was time to come home. My luggage was 12lbs over weight, stuffed to the brim with goodies and fabric and candy (oops!)! The flight was long, again, but I slept for most of it this time. And when I got home, my mom had made me a welcome home pie.
Which is probably the best thing I could have come home to really.

Other highlights of the weekend include:
- Teaching Jennifer the word "winklepicker", and what she thought it meant the first time I said it.
- Katy and I winning free money on the shop hop for traveling the furthest. Woop!
- Proper authentic Mexican food at Red Iguana's with the girls. Also, Sheila and I being "carded" (or "ID'd" as we would say here) and them not accepting our driving licenses. Not so much fun, but still funny.
- Finding a sign for "Mom Bread - $0.69" and the hilarity that ensued. WTF is mom bread?! Does anyone know?
- Getting a Michael Miller colour card in Jeni's lecture. Removable colour swatches, FTW!
- Listening to Audrie talk. Her crazy accent is best.
- Swapping goodies with Lorelai, Malora, Sharon, Shannon and Kristina.
- The mixer on Friday night, organized by Sukie/Amy and the SLMQG.... so.much.fun! And so.much.free.fabric!
- The weird selection of ornamental horses in the hotel gift shop... and nearly walking through a plate glass window into them with Alexia.
- Weekender bag meet up, with Amber, Megan and Stephanie.
